Carr Gottstein Park (Carr-Park)

Description: 

Located in South Anchorage is where you will consistently find pilots honing there kiting skills. With laminar winds blowing off the Cook Inlet, it allows for perfect conditions for learning canopy control.  The small ridge provides a perfect place for young pilots to take there first hops. Although the landing can be muddy, it doesn’t stop young fledglings from taking flight for the first time.

Weather Beta:

Check Wunderground for south to west flow coming off the cook inlet. Airport should be blowing 7-8Mph south/south west and typically Carr-Park will be on for a great kiting experience.

Site Cautions:

Be mindful and cautious of conditions as they can rapidly change from perfect stable air to blown out in mere minutes. East wind pushes quickly down the Turnigain Arm and can make your fun constructive evening of kiting turn into emergency canopy deflation skills building. 

Also take note that below the plateau there is a inconvenient sign  placed in the prevailing winds, be cautious while launching onto the mud flats of the wear-about of this hazard. 

Parking along side is the preferred parking area, but be mindful of not parking on the curbs. The local home owners association has been known to put large paper stickers on your car threatening towing and fines.
